Brittany was amazing, and I'll never forget how grateful I am to her.
I had gender affirming top surgery, and Brittany was so awesome. She was very attentive to my needs and asked me what pronouns I use (he/they) and proceeded to use he/him pronouns for me, which is actually typically a huge issue and stressor for trans people receiving medical care. Oftentimes, I don't feel seen or respected by my healthcare providers because they don't use my pronouns, and I was so grateful and appreciative to have had a nurse right after such a huge surgery that made me feel comfortable, safe, and respected.

While she was wheeling me over to my final post-surgery care destination, she congratulated me on my surgery, which may not sound like a big deal, but really was. A lot of people don't know how to react when you tell them you're getting gender affirming surgery, since surgery is a tough thing to go through, and they focus on pity or the hardship of being trans, which is uncomfortable and frustrating, because it's such an exciting and celebratory time in life getting this care. Brittany was amazing, and I'll never forget how grateful I am to her.
