Brittany Hill exemplifies Duke Health's mission and values through her ethical, compassionate, and people-focused leadership. Her influence on staff and patient care is evident in the culture of trust, accountability, and respect she consistently fosters within our unit. When I sustained a work-related injury, Brittany demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy. She ensured that my medical and workplace needs were addressed promptly and appropriately, closely monitored my work restrictions, and ensured I was safely accommodated. She also took steps to ensure I was fairly compensated and supported throughout my recovery. Brittany's attentiveness extended beyond physical care; she consistently checked in on my emotional and overall well-being, reflecting Duke's commitment to caring for the whole person. Brittany's leadership has a direct and positive impact on staff engagement and patient care. She maintains an environment that encourages open communication and addresses staff concerns in a timely, respectful manner. This transparency strengthens teamwork and allows nurses to practice with confidence and focus, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

As a role model, Brittany consistently demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and ethical practice. Brittany Hill has been our Nurse Manager for about six months, and in that time, she has greatly impacted the unit in a very positive way. She is not only very supportive of the staff but also shows how much she truly loves working on the Rehab unit. She has done many things to support the unit and promote it in a positive way. A few examples include the video she made this Winter for Christmas. She brought multiple disciplines together, including nursing, occupational, physical, and speech therapy, as well as our Nurse Practitioner and even the Medical Director, to create a fun video highlighting the 12 Days of Christmas in a Rehab style. Not only did that bring the unit together, but it was also very fun. Along with doing her utmost best to make the unit fun, she also does a lot of behind-the-scenes work to ensure we have all the equipment and staff we need to properly care for our patients. She recently got us a brand-new Sera Steady bladder scan machine and a few pill crushers, which we desperately needed because we use them so heavily on our floor. There was always someone searching for these items. This, in turn, would delay patient care. Speaking of patient care, she is one Nurse Manager who doesn't mind coming to the floor to help the staff. Whether it is passing medications or answering the phone at the desk, no job is beneath her. She also tries to round daily on all patients to see if any concerns arise. Brittany not only shows excellence as a nurse, but also as a nurse leader and is a great example of Duke values. I, like many of our nurses, am proud to have her as our nurse manager, and she is the reason many of us continue to work so hard not only for our patients, but for the unit.
