Brittany Hart-Merida, LPN

Brittany always goes above and beyond. She is so knowledgeable and brings so much support to our team. One example recently involved two dementia patients who consistently attempted to elope.

Brittany made a baby out of socks and towels to entertain one of the patients. She also propped a patient’s feet up in the nursing area and got a pillow for her head. Brittany then let the patient rest her head on her shoulder and pillow, patted her shoulder, and allowed her to feel comforted. The patient responded so well, and her elopement attempts stopped.

This was amazing nursing care, with a compassionate human touch that this patient likely has not received in a long time. Brittany did all this while having a room assignment as well. She worked thoroughly to make sure her room set was well taken care of and then took the time to provide safety and comfort to this patient.

We would not have been able to run the department as smoothly as we did without her interventions. She deserves the DAISY Award.
