Many reasons will be included because Brittanie has consistently shown she goes above and beyond every single time she has been assigned to me, or not. Specifically, yesterday was my birthday, and my mother and aunt asked the nursing station about my TB tests because they wanted to make sure I was discharged with a negative result. The papers initially given to them were indeterminate. Well, a little while later, Brittanie came back with a highlighted paper that proved my results were indeed negative. She took the initiative to find that on her own.

Another example: I have a double PICC line in my right arm. Brittanie was assigned to me and changed the “dressing” or whatever covers the PICC is called. After cleaning the area and re-clasping the covering, I said it felt a bit sore. Just at one tiny spot. Well, 15 min later, in she comes because she hadn’t stopped thinking about my little side comment and immediately re-did the covering with new and sterile everything, explaining multiple times how it probably got a little rotated. She was sincerely concerned. It was so sweet. Besides her capabilities as a nurse, she also has the sweetest bedside manners. She consoles, listens, and communicates in a way that makes me feel at ease and confident in what is happening.

Another example is that she helped move things along with my case manager when no one else had even mentioned I had one. That’s a big deal because there are serious meds I will need out there in the non-hospital world. I hope this was enough, and if you need more, I’m happy to share!
