September 2026 Honoree
Brittanie Brown, RN
I commend Brittany Brown. I was admitted to Kettering for pneumonia, but it turned out that I had a more aggressive form of thyroid cancer—the first diagnosis. After a partial thyroid removal, I went to Step Down. My stay went longer than anticipated, given the long odds of anaplastic thyroid cancer, and I wasn't home to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. Much to my surprise, on my anniversary date, Brittany entered my room with a vase of flowers, a card, and a box of dark chocolate that my wife likes.
I thanked Brittany for her kindness. My wife hugged and cried with Brittany.
Brittany did not need to do this act of kindness, but she went the extra mile to make the difficult day of facing an aggressive cancer and the inability to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a nice dinner. Also, I had a trach with a speaker and feeding tube, preventing a normal celebration. Brittany displays a very positive and upbeat personality, combined with her kind heart and positive disposition. Brittany is a treasure and a model nurse who is a gem in Kettering City.

Thank you, Brittanie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
