I was admitted to Labor and Delivery on a Friday morning and was told I must be induced at 34 weeks and 3 days. This was my first pregnancy, and on top of that, I am a Type 1 Diabetic. So, when they told me I had to be induced because of preeclampsia, I was overwhelmed and distraught. They started giving me medications throughout the day and night to help with my blood pressure and the induction process. My emotions and thoughts were everywhere. I felt exhausted and defeated that I did not carry my baby to term.

As the day nurse brought in my night nurse, Britnie, my sister was doing my hair, and I was doing my makeup. Britnie immediately started hyping me up with compliments. I told her we were going to try to take some maternity photos since we didn't get a chance to do so with everything going on. Without hesitation, Britnie said she would make that happen. The fact that Britnie was willing to help make it happen was amazing.

Britnie did the most for us. She found a spot in the hallway outside my room, found sheets for a backdrop, and even made sure no wrinkles were noticed. To create a better ambiance, she found additional lights. Plus, fans to keep me cool because of the magnesium sulfate. Throughout this entire process, she would give me compliments and affirmations to help encourage me, knowing what my body was going through. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude. I even made a TikTok of the entire process-over 3 million people have viewed it.

I am grateful for Britnie and the experience I had.
