I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for one of your ICU nurses, Brianna, who has been caring for my mother during her stay at UNC Health Blue Ridge. While my mother is in the ICU, I have unfortunately had to remain in Hawaii for work. Being so far away during such a critical time has been incredibly difficult, but Brianna has gone above and beyond to ensure that I feel both comforted and informed every step of the way.

Brianna has consistently taken the time to break down complex medical information into language that I can easily understand, which has made a tremendous difference in helping me stay connected to my mom’s care. Even more meaningfully, Brianna has made extraordinary efforts to facilitate communication between us. On multiple occasions, Brianna has brought the hospital phone into my mom’s room so I could speak with my mom on speaker. One time, when the phone battery died, Brianna thoughtfully connected it to a portable charger and called me back immediately so I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to talk with my mom.

Brianna’s empathy has truly stood out. Brianna shared with me that if this were her own mother and Brianna lived as far away as Hawaii, she would hope someone would do the same. That level of compassion and personal connection has meant more to my family and me than I can fully express. During such a challenging and emotional time, Brianna has made an enormously positive and supportive impact on our family. This nurse’s kindness, dedication, and commitment to providing exceptional care have not gone unnoticed, and I am so incredibly grateful for everything Brianna has done.
