Brian was instrumental in my father’s crucial first days post surgery. The expert care, motivation, steadfastness, and expert nursing skills quickly put my father at ease. Brian was quick with humorous and insightful anecdotes. He helped explain everything that was happening with his body in a way my dad could understand. Teachable moments were in abundance when Brian was around. The unit got very busy on a few days, but Brian always made my father feel like a real priority. He also had a knack for telling the immediate family when to leave the room. He was always polite, but could pick up on my squeamishness, so I especially appreciated the warnings when tubes were coming out or when my dad was going to be in a vulnerable position. Brian’s patience and efficiency are admirable, but his human touch was above and beyond.
