Nurse Brenna followed her instincts and went above and beyond, and it resulted in saving my father's life that day.
My father was admitted to Mt. Auburn Hospital after 2 weeks in another hospital. He had been treated for heart and lungs, amongst some other things. He had been hallucinating and in need of oxygen. I arrived at about 4 p.m. I went down to the cafeteria, came back, talked to my father, and sat down. He started to fall asleep. My father does but normally sleep, but I assumed he was tired. A doctor came in from respiratory and said they would let him sleep. He continued to hum and snore. Nurse Brenna Crowley came in. She asked me if he was sleeping. I said yes. She tried to get his attention, and I advised her the the doctor said to let him sleep. She continued to talk to him, and he was not responding. She immediately went to get a machine and started taking vitals. She followed up by calling her team and trying to wake him up. They had to call Stroke Red on him and get him to the ICU. He was paralyzed from the feet to his head, and we are still trying to sort through what happened. Nurse Brenna followed her instincts and went above and beyond, and it resulted in saving my father's life that day. To her, it was a regular day. To us, she was a hero that day.
