On behalf of my mother, Mary, and our family, I am recognizing the care my mother received from Brenden Edwards during his two shifts on November 7 and 8. To begin with, Brenden exhibited behavior that most people associate with a successful hospital visit, such as compassion, patience, empathy, proficiency, and most importantly, meeting our needs. People sometimes think they go to a hospital for good doctors. In my view, nurses are the unsung heroes of the healthcare industry, and Brenden is a shining example of a hero. During our stay, Brenden patiently LISTENED to us and responded with his words, actions, and follow-up. Brenden was COMPASSIONATE and always asking if we needed anything, if we were OK, and attending to our needs. Brenden was OPEN AND HONEST about my mother's care and thoroughly answered all our questions to our satisfaction. Brenden was EMPATHETIC to our needs and expressed his understanding and concerns. One noteworthy event occurred on the evening of November 7th when my mother was in the bathroom and became unresponsive with very low BP. I shouted for Brenden, and he immediately jumped into action by calmly and quickly assessing her condition, taking command of the situation, and with several other nurses, stabilizing her. Thank you, Brenden, for your devoted service. You are a credit to the profession of nursing.
