I nominate Brenda Luther of A8 ICU at MCMC for the DAISY Award for a deeply compassionate act that brought comfort to a patient during an incredibly difficult time. When Brenda learned that the patient's spouse was also hospitalized and was nearing the end of life, Brenda took the initiative to assist the patient to a wheelchair and wheel the patient across the unit so they could be at their loved one's bedside. Because of this nurse's kindness, the couple was able to share a meaningful moment together. This simple but powerful gesture showed not only empathy and compassion but a true understanding of what it means to care for the whole person.
