Brelyn was caring for a patient who had recently been placed on comfort measures only and who declined rapidly. This occurred during the severe snowstorms we experienced, which prevented the patient's family from safely reaching the hospital to bid their final goodbyes. Brelyn offered her personal phone number so that various family members could FaceTime the patient and talk to them one last time. She ended up staying at the hospital two hours past her shift to ensure the family had this precious time with their loved one. Brelyn went above and beyond for both the patient and family, providing them with a chance to share moments together that they can never get back.
