Her compassion and empathy were genuine, and I knew she really did care. They do not teach that in nursing school.
Bree helped care for my father when he was in the ICU at OSF. She was an angel in disguise. Our family was dealing with a few medical emergency situations for different family members between OSF and Carle at the same time. I shared this with Bree, and in the days that followed, she would often ask me how they were doing and let me know she was praying for them. Her compassion and empathy were genuine, and I knew she really did care. They do not teach that in nursing school. Her talking to me helped me as much as I knew she was helping my father. On the last day of her shift, when our family was in the waiting room, she made a point to come down and see me to let me know she was leaving. She went out of her way to let me know she was still praying for the family and thinking of us. She was such a blessing to my entire family. I cannot say enough about Bree's compassion and what a great nurse and a great person she is. The world needs more people like her.
