The way she would interact with our daughter and care for her like she was her own family settled our nerves of just being in that scary time of our lives
Our baby was born November 2024. We knew during pregnancy that she would be born with a defect that would require a long stay at the Riley NICU. We had no idea what to expect. We were scared and nervous. We met Breanna our first week in the NICU. We knew right away there was something special about Bre.

Watching Bre take care of our daughter brought us a sense of relief during our stay. The way she would interact with our daughter and care for her like she was her own family settled our nerves of just being in that scary time of our lives. We hated leaving each night, but when Bre was our nurse, we knew she would be in good hands, and we could relax and feel more comfortable leaving.

My husband and I often talked about Bre when we would go home for the night about how much we loved her. We always hoped she would be the face we saw the next day when we returned. Fast forward a couple weeks and Bre had signed up to be our primary nurse. Nothing made us happier!

Just knowing each shift she worked, she would care for our baby. Not only would Bre take care of our daughter, but she took care of us. She always supported us through this journey and helped us to understand what doctors might be telling us during their morning rounds.

After 56 days in the NICU, we were finally released to go home. Thankfully Bre was working that day and could help get everything for us in place for home. I couldn’t imagine going home on a day we couldn’t tell her goodbye. We were so excited and ready to return home, but we know we will miss Bre. I know she will always be in our lives, and I can’t wait for my daughter to meet the wonderful nurse that took such great and gentle care of her. We truly owe Bre more than we could ever give her.
