Brandye works in a unit which forces her to see patients and families on some of their hardest and darkest days. She works in rooms that are quiet and lacking joy, however, Brandye goes above and beyond to make sure that not only her patients feel comfortable and at ease, but she works tirelessly to ensure that their families feel the same way. She is professional, knowledgeable, caring, and efficient.
On October 29th my father was admitted into Brandy's unit and we were lucky enough to get her as our nurse. Brandye immediately connected with our family and assured us that he was going to be in good hands that night; something about her friendly smile and approachable demeanor put me at ease instantly. We spent the night in the waiting room "just in case". Brandye popped in several times to update us on how he was doing and communicated any new medications, reactions, and conversations with the doctors she was speaking with. Over the past few days I have walked in while Brandye is caring for my father and I have found her to be very caring, nurturing, and funny. As a family member, to see her being so wonderful to him is the best thing we could wish for.
We have been in and out of the hospital for the past nineteen years with his health issues, and Brandye is the very first nurse he ever felt comfortable asking for things from. She always accommodated him with a smile on her face. In reading the criteria for the DAISY Award, my eyes filled with tears because she hit each one of those and really beyond. She really is an extraordinary person and phenomenal nurse. She is why we come to this hospital and she is the reason that we will continue to rave about the care received here. There are no words to express what Brandye has meant to us and no letter could truly do her justice.
