For the last several days, taking care of this patient, I have heard the family raving about this nurse in PACU and how "it is because of him that my mom is still here."

The patient came in for an outpatient procedure. In the PACU, Brandon noticed early signs of sepsis. The doctor signed discharge orders and asked the family to come back, and the patient could leave.  Brandon advocated for his patient for hours. The patient ended up being in PACU for over 8 hours under Brandon's care.

Brandon's quick actions, critical thinking, and care for the patient and her family led the patient to receive the care that was needed and deserved. Finally, the doctor agreed to have the patient go to step down. The patient ended up in the ICU several hours later on three blood pressure medications, intubated, and on dialysis.

The family stated numerous times that it was because of Brandon that their mom is here today. Because Brandon was concerned, spoke up, and advocated for his patient, the patient lived and will be reunited with her family soon.
