Brandi stayed hours over her shift without being asked to do so after our department was short-staffed due to nursing call-ins. When asked why she was still in the department after her shift was supposed to be over, she replied that leaving the department now would force the remaining nurses to absorb unsafe patient loads. Not only did she stay late, but during this time, she took it upon herself to make sure the lobby patients were triaged while caring for the ones she already had in the department. She literally kept the department afloat when nobody would have faulted her for leaving on time when her shift ended. She gave her patients excellent care and did not complain once about taking on the extra responsibilities.
