September 2026 Honoree
Blair Osborne, BSN, RN, C-EFM
I was a patient at Atrium and should have nominated Blair then. I was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for an induction. Things didn’t progress, and we had an emergency C-section on Sunday. Blair was my nurse Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. She held my hand during my epidural; she gave me a shoulder to cry on after every check when it came back that I wasn’t dilated. And then after I had the baby, she was there to support me during that transition.
Fast forward, I had a scheduled C-section for my second son. After surgery, I found out Blair was my nurse, and I couldn’t have been more excited. Due to having a C-section, the fluid wasn’t pushed out with the baby, so he did a lot of grunting. As this was new to my husband and me, we were very anxious. Blair heard it before I was even technically her patient and made sure my recovery nurse knew. Then once we were out of recovery, Blair checked in on us often. She was always one step ahead of everyone else who said it’ll go away. She checked his pulse ox, would listen to him breathe, and watch his chest and nostrils as he breathed to make sure he wasn’t struggling. Because it had been going on so long, she took the baby to the nursery to get the PA’s opinion and then had him come talk to us to answer any questions we had. The next morning, when he was still grunting, she did everything again. She took care of my son the way she would have hers, and as a mom, there’s nothing more important than that and having that care. She also made sure my husband and I didn’t need anything and were taken care of. She went the extra mile every time. I am so thankful to have had Blair as my nurse not once, but twice. The world and healthcare need more Blairs.
