Beth Gleason is the Patient Care Manager for Labor and Delivery at The Mother Baby Center at Abbott Northwestern. She has worked in many different roles here at The Mother Baby Center over the years, and she has always stood out as a leader. Beth makes it a priority to get to know her staff and her patients well. She will advocate for her team and have hard conversations whenever needed. Beth is a natural leader, and she always has an open-door policy not only for staff but for patients as well. In her time as Patient Care Manager, there have been many changes and challenges, but even on her busiest days, she will put down whatever she is working on, not only to help find a solution but to mentor as well. I know that her mentorship has made me a better leader, and I cannot thank her enough for that. She is respected by her staff, as they have all witnessed her passion for this unit and our patients. They know she will be the first in the trenches if needed, will advocate for the smallest of voices on the unit, and make sure that not only is this a place where people feel safe coming to work, but also feel valued and enjoy their work while they are here. She also has this uncanny ability to have difficult conversations with staff and have them leave the room feeling heard and inspired to help be a part of the solution as well. Any unit would be so lucky to have her leading them, as I have no doubt she will succeed in anything she puts her effort into, but I am grateful that she is our manager.
