She wasn't just kind, compassionate, and a joy to be around; she was amazing at her job, efficient, organized, and quick when needed, and took her time when needed.
Bernalyd took such good care of my 76-year-old mother, who was in the CCU after a cardiac arrest during a flare-up of COPD. We had the great pleasure of having Bernalyd looking out for Mom after our fourth day in the hospital, as things were getting harder and scarier. Mom was exhausted and miserable after several days of intubation, extubation, and reintubation.
Bernalyd was so compassionate and empathetic. She took Mom's hand and patiently and carefully explained every single thing she was doing. She consistently checked in with Mom and prioritized her comfort at every step, which was so important as Mom was so uncomfortable, miserable, and tired. She proactively and tirelessly did everything possible to ease Mom's stress and comfort her so she could relax and heal. Bernalyd's sense of urgency and attention to the alarms and all moments of distress was such a relief to both Mom and me and my family. Up until that point, we had not received that type of attention, patience, diligence, and help. Most importantly, she was always upbeat and so positive.
She spoke to Mom (and us) in calm, soothing tones that we all desperately needed. She wasn't just kind, compassionate, and a joy to be around; she was amazing at her job, efficient, organized, and quick when needed, and took her time when needed. When the ventilator malfunctioned and wouldn't stop alarming loudly while Mom was trying to get rest, she went above and beyond to track down help to fix it immediately. Bernalyd's care, kindness, attention to detail, and extraordinary efforts meant the world to us.
