She made me feel comfortable and calm during a very painful, hectic, and vulnerable time in my life.
Bernadette was my assigned nurse during my induction and my postnatal care. She was absolutely amazing! She made me feel comfortable and calm during a very painful, hectic, and vulnerable time in my life. I’ll never forget her. She came in and never made me feel awful (more than I already did) about having to call her in so frequently, and she always made sure not only that I was comfortable, but also my family (most importantly, my newborn daughter).
She made me feel safe, seen, and understood.
She showed me the ropes after birth and helped me waddle to the restroom. She helped me stay hydrated, eat, and she did the absolute most in the best way possible. She heard me out and didn’t make me feel judged or burdened. She had such an impact on my visit and birth story, I’d happily give birth again with a woman like her on my team.
I’m writing this nomination for Bernadette if I solely have to choose one of my 4 nurses, but my hats also go off to J for advocating for me, caring for me, and really coaching me through the most painful and most beautiful moment of my life that I’ve yet to experience. I can’t remember much due to the debilitating situation, but she also has a special place in my heart for her upbeat demeanor and caring heart. Both of these nurses, along with S and R, really left an impact on those few days of my time spent in the maternity ward, and I’ll always remember them. Bernadette just so happened to be with me most of my stay and had a lasting impact on our story. I will always be grateful to these women. Thank you!
