My dad's nurse, Bernadette Gaza, exemplified what it means to be a truly extraordinary nurse. From the first moment Bernadette entered the room, her warm smile and lighthearted humor immediately made a difference in the atmosphere and in my dad's recovery. She genuinely listened to my dad and treated him as a human being, not someone whose time is limited, and it's time to pass on. She was never rushed in caring for my dad, taking time to help clean him and making sure he was comfortable. Bernadette was the only nurse who asked if he was in pain, offering a Tylenol or even to be warmed with another blanket. Bernadette shows compassion in every way that makes a lasting impression. My father and I are so grateful for the care he received. A true rock star!
