Becky was instrumental in supporting this patient’s care throughout her delivery, post-partum hemorrhage, and stabilization.
We had placental abruption and emergency c-section, but kept hemorrhaging, eventually requiring a hysterectomy. Becky was there as I had to be resuscitated twice, and literally saved my life twice. Of course, the OB doctor and anesthesiologist saved my life as well. Becky was drenched in blood but did not back up until I was due for surgery. The entire staff from both units brought me back to life to be with my daughter. Every nurse, tech, pharmacist, lab person, chaplain – everyone played their role to perfection. Prayers were all around and certainly were heard. I will be eternally thankful to the BH Louisville staff for saving my life. Even after I was out of OR and then in CICU & Mother Baby floor, every nurse /doctor was outstanding! Thank you for everything.

Becky had an emergent C-section. The patient was on a scheduled induction. The patient called out, saying they were having a lot of bleeding. Before the patient went back to the OR, Becky recognized how much bleeding the patient was already having and placed a second IV. The patient had a C-section. As they finished the c-section and went to get the patient cleaned up, they realized the patient had been hemorrhaging. The patient was going into DIC and quickly coded. Becky quickly went into action, performing compressions. She continued to trade off doing compressions, and they brought the patient back. Twice. A second surgery took place to save the patient’s life. Becky kept her head and continued to run the room. A massive transfusion protocol was running as the team worked to save her life. Becky delegated and advocated for her patient, saving her life.

Becky was instrumental in supporting this patient’s care throughout her delivery, post-partum hemorrhage, and stabilization. She collaborated effectively with the entire team. She was also precepting a nurse who was new to L&D throughout this delivery. Without Becky’s excellent clinical recognition, communication, and teamwork with her colleagues, this patient may not have survived.
