It was as if they treated us both as members of their own family. It was important to them to explain every step that would be completed during our visit, as my husband tends to have white coat syndrome.
This nurse brings strong assets to their role, and we were incredibly fortunate to have them as our nurse. As a dedicated and hardworking individual, this person is a great role model. They are extremely organized and constantly learning and improving best practices to manage routine activities efficiently and effectively. It was a pleasure to meet this individual, who brought a lot of positive energy and a personal touch to our visit. They approached us in the waiting room as if we were the only ones in the waiting room at that time. It was as if they treated us both as members of their own family. It was important to them to explain every step that would be completed during our visit, as my husband tends to have white coat syndrome. As a result, B felt more comfortable after they explained it in a way that was understandable to nonmedical individuals. The procedure for B was delayed for over an hour (which is completely understandable), but this person kept us well-informed and continued to check on us during that time. Even at times, they were able to enjoy personal conversations with us, which made both of us feel like family members and very comfortable. While at lunch, this nurse took the time to say hi as I was sitting in the cafeteria. With them taking the time with us, they understood that due to the delay, we were going to be rushed to pick up our daughter. They helped move along the postop/discharge while completing each step needed efficiently and effectively. The work this person does at ProMedica is of exceptional quality, and they bring true professional attributes to the company. I noticed that while there, they also went above and beyond the call of duty in pursuing excellence. For example, I observed them helping co-workers, and patients (not assigned to them) and taking the time to keep the department clean and well-organized. I know firsthand that working in the medical field during the pandemic took a toll on individuals and changed their way of performing their duties. I believe that this person truly cares about their patients.

I have worked for over 25 years at Michigan Medicine and would be honored to have someone like this nurse working in my department. They are a true asset. They easily develop and foster relationships with faculty, trainees, and other patients (I noticed this all while there). They are terrific at welcoming anyone entering the department, whether it is a patient or a coworker. I highly recommend this individual for the DAISY Award. They are motivated and positively engaged, serving as a true inspiration.
