Ava shared toys and even found a stuffed animal to give to Z.
Ava was a rock star from the beginning. She was our nurse on day 3 of our hospital stay, and that happened to be discharge day, all thanks to her. Our daughter Z had pulled out her I.V. at 6 am that morning while sleeping. At that point, it was either get our daughter to turn around quickly, or we were getting it replaced and staying another night. Ava was in there first thing with a very positive attitude and a drive to assist us with getting our daughter to turn around and start taking meds and eating. Up to this point, she had not eaten anything for 3 days and had drunk little to nothing. She also absolutely refused to take any type of oral medicine. Ava was able to break through and get her to talk for the first time, as well as eat a lemon popsicle to break the ice. Then she ate 2 popsicles and started drinking with the positive influence of Ava. This left us hopeful we had a chance to go home that day. Ava shared toys and even found a stuffed animal to give to Z. All in all, a very positive experience, and we got to go home all thanks to her hospitality and ability to work with children and people.

Nurse Ava K was amazing! She took excellent care of Z on her last day. Z does not like taking medicine at all - even on her best of days. After she had surgery on her mouth, she was having a very difficult time. My husband and I were so grateful for how creative and kind Ava was with Z. She used techniques that we now use at home for her post op medicine, and they are huge life-saving tips! She is starting to take her medicine better, and it isn't as much of a fight each time. If it weren't for her getting Z to take her medicine orally, we would have had to stay another night in the hospital. We are so grateful!
