Autumn's tireless, devoted, and skilled passion for my grandmother’s well-being made a huge impression on us.
Nomination 1
My 68-year-old grandma was a patient for a week and a half, almost 2 weeks. My grandma was on a roller coaster; we never knew what to expect. Everything that was happening was new and scary to my grandma and my family. We watched her struggle with breathing, eating, talking, and expressing herself about where the pain was located.
Through it all, Autumn was there, working tirelessly, diligently, helping my grandma and us understand the issues and ramifications, and explaining the doctor's orders. She patiently explained things to my grandma, sometimes more than once, until she understood it. Of utmost importance to her was my grandmother’s comfort.
Autumn was also concerned and repeatedly expressed concern about making sure my grandmother was comfortable and not in any pain as my family went through our own emotional and exhausting roller coaster rides. We looked forward to each day seeing Autumn as my grandmother’s nurse. She obviously cared deeply for my grandmother. She became completely comfortable and let Autumn help her with going to the bath and assisting her in the chair for better comfort.
Autumn became like family to us. Every day, knowing she was in extreme pain, she was unable to tell her what was wrong. Autumn analyzed the best position to put my grandmother in to get her off her back, where she was in pain. Autumn's tireless, devoted, and skilled passion for my grandmother’s well-being made a huge impression on us. She stood out as a nurse, willing and able to go beyond the normal call of duty while making sure my grandmother had everything she needed.
Nomination 2
I was observing Autumn while rounding (I am a nurse practitioner) and was taking care of a patient, and I noticed how she took her time and cared for her. She was treating her like she was family. She is passionate about her job and every patient she has; she treats them the same. Every time I see her, she is smiling and pleasant to be around. We need more nurses like her!
