August 2026 Honoree
Austin Ritter, RN
My grandmother is very sad to be in the hospital. Something that makes her feel better is watching baseball and basketball games. However, the hospital doesn't have those channels on the TV in her room.
At first, Austin would swing by her room to update her on the score while checking in on her. Then at one point he came down and showed her how to watch the game from an app on her phone. He explained it very thoroughly and patiently. He answered all of her questions. At no point was he condescending or demeaning.
She is hard of hearing, and he has always been very patient with her. Never have I so much as seen him even look slightly annoyed at needing to slow down or repeat himself.
He has also been very patient with my grandfather and me, answering our questions thoroughly and making sure we're ok too. He does his job passionately and professionally. I honestly haven't seen or received care as amazing as he gives. If anyone deserves the award, he does.

Thank you, Austin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
