Thanks to her immediate and expert intervention, paramedics were able to achieve spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and transport the patient to our Trauma Center.
While traveling near Newport News, VA, Ashley and her husband came upon a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred. They immediately pulled over and noticed a severely injured 5-year-old child at the scene.
Ashley rushed over and began performing CPR. She continued life-saving resuscitative measures for approximately 10 minutes until EMS crews arrived and took over. Thanks to her immediate and expert intervention, paramedics were able to achieve spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and transport the patient to our Trauma Center. Although the outcome was heartbreaking, Ashley’s swift and courageous actions gave this child a fighting chance. Ashley’s heroic actions reflect the highest standards of nursing and bring great honor to Mary Washington Healthcare and the nursing profession. Her dedication, clinical expertise, and humanity are truly inspiring.
