“Ashley is an excellent nurse, and she role models all the attributes outlined in the DAISY Award.”

“To know Ashley is to admire her. Ashley always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. On this day, she had a very heavy 4-patient assignment with one individual requiring a lot of her care and time. This individual was a frequent flyer, was restrained due to his violent attempts toward staff, and was an RRT this shift.
It can be easy to go through the motions, especially when our patients are not kind to us in return. However, Ashley never lets a patient’s poor behavior alter her advocacy and care for them. Ashley went out of her way to get the Ethics Committee involved with this patient so that we could expedite guardianship and be able to make the best choices for the patient moving forward.
As Ashley talked about the day and how challenging it was for her, you could tell that the day had taken its toll. Instead of complaining or getting upset, she continued, completing her tasks for the day with a smile and positive attitude. Continuing to support, not just her patients, but her peers as well. No matter the patient, they are always in great hands with Ashley as their nurse.”
