It was clear to me that Nurse Ashley is an absolute gift to the honorable profession of nursing and a blessing to us all.
I received extraordinarily compassionate and skillful nursing care from Registered Nurse Ashley Sabatini. As a 32-year retired combat Veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve, I had the honor of, and took very seriously, the commitment to lead, take care of, and serve others, contributing to a bigger cause.
As such, I was awestruck by the telephonic-based nursing care I received from nurse Ashley. I was seeking continuation of access to community-based care and left a voice message, not knowing that I had been transferred to the incorrect section of Community Care. Nurse Ashley promptly returned my call, but I suspected that she was not the designated person to address my healthcare needs. I soon learned that I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Despite nurse Ashley not being assigned to that specific community care section, she assured me that she could help because she is committed to helping everyone--because every Veteran’s health and well-being is important. Ashley exuded integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence, of which Florence Nightingale would be so proud. By the conclusion of our encounter, it was clear to me that Nurse Ashley is an absolute gift to the honorable profession of nursing and a blessing to us all.
Nurse Ashley diligently researched my medical record and the community care referral that I called about. She was able to provide an update as to what the referral status was and the timeline of what to expect next. Nurse Ashley was very articulate and knowledgeable of the entire community care referral process, which helped me become a more informed advocate for my health and well-being.
Nurse Ashley had a positive impact on my access to care. In support of honoring the memory of J. Patrick Barnes through the DAISY Foundation, it is a pleasure to recognize this extraordinary nurse for making an enormous difference in the lives of those who entrust their care to her. What a gift to humanity. Thank you kindly, Nurse Ashley, for all that you do, and thank you, SAVAHCS for taking the time to honor nurses for the super-human work that they do.
