My husband, J, was a patient in the Prisma ICU with a particularly bad case of pancreatitis. He had many amazing nurses, but Ashley C stood out among them. Ashley was amazing at anticipating what Jon needed before he needed it. She was always on time with his medicine and any comfort items he needed. On one particular morning, J was in a really low mood and discouraged by his healing progress. Ashley immediately noticed and came up with a plan. She would help J escape the ICU! At this point in his recovery, J was able to move around and was not confined to the bed. Ashley decided that she, J, and I would take a stroll outside the ICU. She did everything medically necessary to get him comfortable in a wheelchair, and then we were off. We strolled around the Prisma campus and even went outside to enjoy the sunshine in the healing garden. His mood after this time outside drastically improved. I truly believe this was a turning point in his recovery, and it was all because of Ashley's care and attention to her patient's needs, not just physical, but mental as well. She could have just ignored J's bad mood and done the bare minimum for him, but she chose to go above and beyond her job requirements. I can't thank Ashley enough for everything she did for my husband and would love to see her receive a DAISY Award.
