Dear Ashley, I felt compelled to reach out to you with this message. Let me first start off by sharing that after 25 years, my mother retired as a Head Nurse of an ER. Naturally, throughout the years, I became very intuitive, picking up on others' compassion and empathy. I had a considerable amount of anxiety for whatever reason about not waking up after anesthesia for weeks leading up to surgery. When I blurted out to the anesthesiologist something like he was "the important person I was waiting to speak to", and he followed with "we're all important around here", I felt a bit foolish because I was pretty sure my words were misconstrued by both of you. I realized I didn't speak precisely. What I quickly came to understand was that in the end it wasn't the anesthesiologist who stole away my underlying fear of possibly not waking up for my loved ones. It was your genuine, kind, compassionate and calming way that diverted my attention. My energy was guided into the best place it could be going into the procedure. I needed to make you aware of the positive affect you had on my outlook and probably the outcome of the nature of my experience. Keep being you. Throughout the years to come, you will have a profound healing effect on your patients.
