I feel empowered now to be an advocate for my son when we move to the specialty hospital and that’s because of Ashley.
Ashley was my nephew's nurse after he was involved in a head-on wrong-way driver
car accident. She is the most amazing nurse I think my family has ever had the pleasure of having. She was beyond compassionate and let my sister (nephew's mother) be such a part of things with his care. She’s absolutely amazing at what she does.

From the first day Ashley was our patient's nurse, she was so kind and caring to not only him but his mom too. Ashley would explain everything that was happening or going to happen to his mom in detail and in ways she would understand. She took her time to be present in more ways than one. We could tell she truly cared about our patient.

My son was in a head-on collision. We are in ICU for 5 weeks and 2 days as of now. Ashley has been our nurse for probably 3/4 of our time here. She is amazing. She provided the best care and went above and beyond caring for my son. She also educated me.

As a mother going through the worst thing in my life, she was able to teach me about everything that was going on with him, why certain medications were given, and what several symptoms were. I feel empowered now to be an advocate for my son when we move to the specialty hospital and that’s because of Ashley. She is outstanding and most of all I felt that she actually cared about my son and also my entire family as we went through this experience. My son was put on ECMO and that was the scariest thing, and she was so great she made sure to go with him as they transported him to the 6th floor and stayed with us until we were settled in. She went above and beyond every day for us.

When I visited my grandson, I was always happy to see Ashley there. She's kind, thoughtful, considerate. She definitely is in the right field of work.

Ashley Nickell started caring for our grandson from day 1 and 100% was his advocate. At the beginning of his 6-week inpatient stay in Surgical Trauma ICU she did not let up, did not give up, and continually assessed, reassessed, planned, and cared for our loved one. She interfaced with the physicians constantly - reporting critical needs and providing endearing love and care. And always with a smile. She is an outstanding nurse and provided such comfort to both our grandson (patient) and his mom and family. She explained everything to us, and was always cool, calm, and collected.... even if things were going south. When she was "our" nurse, the entire family was at ease.

There are no words to express my appreciation and gratitude to Ms. Nickell. From the day that my grandson was admitted to the day that he was transferred to rehab, Ashley has exceeded any and all expectations in the eyes of his grandfather. She is extremely knowledgeable and is willing to explain what the procedures are and why they are important. She has been a rock for my daughter who has remained by my grandson's side for 5+ weeks. She actually made me feel like she was a part of our family.

I am very thankful and appreciative that Ashley was assigned to look after my grandson. Please know that everyone involved and responsible for taking care of our grandson was amazing, but Ashley is a little special and always kept us informed, answered all questions, and provided peace of mind. I am so very thankful that Ashley looked after my grandson. Thank you, Banner!
