A gynecological oncology patient from Lafayette had spent months being shuffled around in another healthcare system because of her insurance. Her original diagnosis was in August.  When Ashley received a call from the other healthcare system, she notified our GYN Onc team to ensure the referral was obtained and the patient was scheduled.

She worked with our social workers on assessing barriers to care. The patient was scheduled for four appointments a year after the diagnosis, and the week prior, she indicated that she had transportation to Baton Rouge. On the morning of her visits, the patient called in distress from the bus station in Lafayette, unable to purchase a ticket. Ashley worked to get the patient here and home so that all care could be provided.

She went above and beyond in advocating for this patient who had a serious diagnosis that had been untreated for almost a year.
