I honestly don’t know where I would be without Ashley’s empathy, guidance, patience, and help in believing we could successfully travel this road.
My daughter "S" is a patient at The Valerie Center undergoing treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma. As you can imagine this has been the hardest journey of our lives as we navigate this unpredictable journey. The entire team at TVC has been outstanding as they have helped us manage every aspect of "S's" medical care. I could highly praise every team member, but the purpose of this email is to highlight Ashley and the outstanding work she does for her patients.

Simply put, at the start of this journey, I was a mess as I needed to navigate this diagnosis. Making decisions for my daughter and not knowing anything about this disease was so overwhelming. I cried nonstop and could barely function as we were making decisions. I honestly don’t know where I would be without Ashley’s empathy, guidance, patience, and help in believing we could successfully travel this road. She would end every phone call telling me “I’m doing great”. That may not seem like much but to me it meant everything. It made me know I could do this, and Ashley would be there as support.

We were hard hit with a challenge early in treatment as "S" developed diabetes because of a side effect of a medication. From there life in oncology just got a hundred times harder as we were balancing medical needs of oncology and endocrinology. Ashley immediately stepped in and helped coordinate PET and CT scans while balancing the needs of a diabetic patient. She personally reached out to the endocrinology team, radiology team, and gave me every detail I needed to know to keep "S's" glucose in range so we could successfully get her scans. The peace of mind I felt helped us get through this procedure successfully.

"S" is leaving for college in a few weeks, and we need to transition to another facility in order to complete the last two rounds of treatment. Ashley is already on top of the transition, so the daunting task of switching to a new hospital can be as seamless as possible. There were countless things Ashley did for us over these past few months, and I just want you to know how truly blessed TVC is to have such an outstanding nurse. She is truly special! I could go on and on but I’m hoping Ashley could be recognized for her outstanding nursing abilities. She balances administration and nursing, and she makes it look easy, which we know is not the case. I would be happy to speak on her behalf in any capacity.
