I am writing to nominate Ashley Farrell, LPN, for the DAISY Award for her outstanding dedication and exceptional service to our underserved patient population at the Wilson Resident Podiatry Clinic. Ashley's commitment to her practice, her providers, and her patients is truly remarkable and deserving of this prestigious recognition.
Ashley is an extremely knowledgeable nurse who consistently demonstrates a tireless work ethic and demands excellence every day, representing the profession and benefiting the patients. She is fiercely loyal to her providers and advocates passionately for her patients, many of whom are minority patients. Ashley ensures that they receive high-quality care with the dignity and compassion they deserve. She goes above and beyond to cut down language barriers, often making phone calls herself on patients' behalf to secure authorizations for imaging studies, resolve insurance claim denials, and obtain necessary medical equipment or braces. Her ability to multitask and ensure the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently is unparalleled while also maintaining a collaborative learning environment for the residents.
Despite the immense dedication she shows to her work, Ashley also devotes herself wholeheartedly to her son, B, who is bravely battling acute myeloid leukemia and graft vs. host disease. Ashley's advocacy extends to her personal life as she fights for B's approvals in clinical trials and with insurance companies. Even when traveling to New York City for B's treatments, Ashley brings her laptop along to stay connected with her patients, ensuring she never misses an important in basket message. I have often expressed to Ashley how fortunate I am to have such an exceptional nurse on my team. It is my wish that her patients realize what a gift, advocate, and friend they have in her.
