At 24 weeks pregnant I had a placenta abruption and was taken to the ER by my husband where we met Ashley. First thing in my mind is my son dead, and they kept trying to find a heartbeat. She took my hand, and I told her my son is gone, I know in my heart he's not alive, and asked her not to lie to me. She looked at me, and I knew for sure; I didn't need more words, my son was gone - she held my hand, and that moment of compassion was everything to me. The doctor got there and confirmed my baby was gone. I remember bits and pieces from that moment since I was going through a lot. Ashley was with me throughout the whole process and ensured my baby was loved and taken care of for me.

In the next days, we found out she had taken the most beautiful photos of my son, and that was something that I'll never have enough words to thank her for all she had done for us. I was flown to Lubbock's Hospital since I had gone into DIC but before I even left she came to my room and brought me a bunny, she said, "this little animal is in a shape that you can hug it when you feel alone, it can give you comfort when your son is not with you", an angel sent from heaven to give me kindness and love because I was in a huge need of support. The next day, Ashley showed up at the hospital with a pillow and stuff to bathe myself and things I would need while I was there, since I had nothing prepared to be in the hospital. This was a huge help. Just her presence meant so much, as she made the drive and was there to support us. It meant so much to have someone like her in our lives in that moment of need. She also got us a casting kit where we did our son's little feet that we'll be able to have forever. I was so amazed and surprised to have a person like her in my life. When I didn't expect it, God sure did send me a beautiful soul into our lives. I can only say that she is an angel sent from God because she didn't only do her job, she went above and beyond for us and for my son. She gave him the love that I couldn't when he was born and took care of him and us.

To this day, we talk, and she checks up on me. We talk, and she listens to me when I'm in pain and when I'm Okay. I can honestly say she's just a nurse that helped me, she's a friend and a person that I will never forget, or stop being thankful for having in our lives. I know that my son was taken care of and loved by many, and she did that for me and him since day one. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate and loving person. I have so much respect and love for her and wish her blessings after blessings for being the person who goes above and beyond. Thank you, Ashley, for being the wonderful person you are.
