Ashley goes above and beyond, and it will explain it in the letter that was submitted, but she's not afraid to stay later to ensure she's there throughout any tough times. But the patient who nominated her is also a nurse and explained how Ash stayed after, helped reassure her, they were having trouble monitoring the baby, and we all know how helpless you can feel when it's your child. Ashley's compassion and empathetic personality wouldn't allow her to just leave at the end of her shift; she stayed the duration to provide calm to this expecting mother. There are nurses who do their job, and there are nurses who love their job and are meant to be there; that 100% explains who Ashley is.

Patient Story:

Ashley was terrific. We came to L&D under very unexpected circumstances. She did a great job advocating for us. She was kind and professional throughout our story. She was willing to try new things and troubleshoot when monitors wouldn't pick up when things were not progressing. We appreciated her encouragement during the transition into pushing. She was so kind to stay hours after her scheduled shift to help us welcome our son. As a nurse myself, I know it wasn't easy night up there on L&D. Staffing, volumes, IV fluid shortages, and all of the things nurses face don't make it easy, but the compassion of all the staff on L&D, especially Ashley, was truly appreciated and meant a lot to our family.

Ashley and I immediately connected & she made me feel so good about everything. Went above and beyond to form that nurse-to-patient relationship. She is truly amazing. She let me know right away that she would advocate for my wants and make sure baby and I were safe. Once we moved to the recovery unit, she came over to see us. I will remember her always.
