Ashlee Dastrup, RN

My stepfather was in Ashlee Dastrup's care for many months. Ashlee stepped in to help my family as no other health care professional ever has. My parents were referred to HH due to catheter issues and excess bleeding of the bladder. Ashlee was available for any problems. She was instrumental in getting the St. George Urology Dept. and the SLC Urology Dept. to work together and find solutions to my stepfather's excessive bleeding. She called both offices to make sure they were getting accurate info and assisted in making arrangements for an alternate surgery to stop/slow the bleeding.

Ashlee also helped my family find sterile water to help flush blood clots from his catheter. My family could not find enough sterile water to do these flushes, and Ashlee and her partner went to multiple places to gather the supplies and deliver them to my mother. Ashlee was with them throughout all steps of my stepfather's care, from helping coordinate transfers and prodding the SLC Home Health group to contact and visit him after the surgery. She even called 30 minutes after my stepfather got out of surgery to see how both he and my mother were.

My stepfather had a bladder removal surgery planned for February, but he was bleeding so much that he was weakened and we were worried that he would not make it. My mother believes Ashley saved his life. They also felt that Ashlee provided the highest level of care and displayed actual care and compassion during the entire time she was their HH nurse. My mom stated that because of Ashlee, my stepdad is still with us and will always be thankful for what she did. Ashlee is an amazing person.
