II apologize for not remembering some staff names as day 1 was very tiring and stressful. However, efforts by ALL staff did not go unnoticed.
Our experience here has been outstanding since our first telephone contact with the triage nurse, Marna. Marna spent a great deal of time with us on the telephone to assess our needs and symptoms. She helped make the decision to come in for possible appendicitis. As a worried mother, this was so helpful to have a second opinion and confirmation that an ER visit was necessary. She is a God-Send and an angel to us.
The Security guards and front desk staff processed us quickly and helped answer questions and get us where we needed to be. We were walked back to the ER room and met a group of very energetic staff. They were fabulous at making E feel comfortable while she was in a very scared and sick state. The young lady who met with us from "child life" was a very important piece of our success with tackling E's fears. She was wonderful and so was the young lady who prepared the IV. E has had awful experiences in the past but was calm this time around. The knowledge and experience of ER nurses, doctors and staff were excellent.
We got up to a private room very early in the AM. I am unsure of the first staff who served, but they helped make us feel welcome and comfortable. This was so important to all of us. We are appreciative of the surgical staff. They calmed patient and family nerves and did an amazing job with a very quick, thorough and clean procedure. Words cannot say enough of how appreciative we are of all who took care of our daughter in our absence.
When we got back to the room, we were met by Lexi. She had such great energy and was very careful and attentive to ensure E was comfortable. She answered all our questions and was encouraging to our daughter. At shift change, we met Wyatt and Thomas. These men provided so much support during the overnight hours. Thomas was in our room more times than I've seen anyone else taking vitals. He kept us informed of how she was doing. Wyatt proved himself to be very knowledgeable, more than I've experienced with other nurses in years past. He was very smart and treated our daughter's pain without having to administer unnecessary medications, which is very much appreciated as parents. He informed us of all our options and, sure enough, what he said was accurate. Our daughter was able to process her discomfort shortly after and slept comfortably. I can't express enough how comforting it is to know you are in good hands and being cared for appropriately.
At shift change, we met Sendu. She educated me on how to properly bathe E and got us set up to do this with ease. She was at our every call. While I'm writing this with more hours in the day, I know there will be more experiences that will go unshared and more staff unnamed. However, we truly believe every staff member who has treated and cared for our daughter is truly an answer to ongoing prayers. All the staff here are truly angels and blessings. The staff we've passed and seen in the hallways have answered questions, guided us and shared smiles.
Thank you so much to all the staff here. We are so appreciative and thankful for each of you!
