April was extra special to me for the following reasons: 

She made me feel safe and heard when I was afraid the doctor on call was going to dismiss me from the hospital while I was still suffering from what brought me to the ER. 

She was compassionate, wise, practical, caring, calm, comforting, and clearly very experienced in excellent nursing skills. 

She had with her a high school student shadowing her and was inclusive, instructive, and equally supportive of the student as she was to me.  

She took care of my physical and medical needs and also helped me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.  

All in all, an exceptional nurse and an extraordinary woman.
