I went in for the scheduled induction of my second baby, though it felt like an all-new experience. I had to be induced due to severe cholestasis. With my 10-year-old, I went into labor naturally the day before her due date. I had no idea what to expect, and was extremely anxious and scared for myself and my baby.

April went above and beyond, reassuring me, coaching me through the induction and labor, explaining how what I’m experiencing is normal, constantly monitoring the baby, and being proactive in helping me progress labor with positioning and activities I could handle. She stayed by my side the whole time, even going out of her way to ensure I had staff with me for her lunch break that she got to late because of my active progression, and her care truly felt personal.

April and understood I didn’t want to receive the epidural, and she did her best to encourage me through the pain and help apply counter pressure in my hips and back. With April’s help, I was able to naturally birth a perfectly healthy 36-week-old baby within 6.5 hours of pitocin administration, with calmed anxiety. I really don’t believe my labor and delivery would have been as calm and efficient without her.

April is exactly the type of truly caring, thorough nurse we need in this healthcare world
