Nurse April delivered medications while explaining each one. She asked if I needed anything else each time she entered my room. She made me feel like family or a VIP rather than just another guest. She showed empathy and even thought of ways to make me comfortable that I had not considered, saying she’s “treating me like she’d want to be treated” in response to my compliments. She kept a cheerful disposition and brightened my day. She showed that nursing is more than passing pills and listening to lungs. Her positive energy heals a person in pain. Her selfless acts of getting small things to make me happy while caring for other patients are above my expectations. She deserves recognition for earning patients' trust and being truly seen as an individual. She seems to work for the love of nursing, not just for a paycheck. I am happy to be a patient who experienced her pure love for people and the nursing profession. I nominate April for the Nurse of the Year and the Extraordinary DAISY Award. For being the epitome of what nurses are known to be in totality.
