April is always a shining example of care and compassion, going the extra mile for coworkers, patients, and families. Any special occasion for coworkers, April is the first to provide a gift of encouragement. She is an avid crochet enthusiast and has made baby blankets and various other gifts for coworkers. April takes the time to meet her patients where they are. Being in the ICU takes care and commitment. Recently, she took the extra time to wash, comb, and braid a very ill patient's hair. This took time, patience, and care to remove a large amount of blood clots and tangles. The patient's family was very grateful to see their loved one looking as normal as they could, given how sick they were in the ICU. April is committed to learning and growing her nursing career, expanding her knowledge of patient safety and improvement. I am honored to work with such an amazing nurse. Although she is early in her nursing career, she has shown such promise and growth. She is an amazing nurse and certainly deserves the honor of joining the ranks of the DAISY Award recipients.
