While I was in the ICU after suffering an aneurysm, I was pregnant and really afraid about how my baby was going to be impacted by the medications and treatment I received there. The doctors there were very informative, and a lot of the information I was receiving really scared me.
Whenever nurse Anyssa was there, she always checked in on me because she could tell when I was feeling overwhelmed or scared. She was so kind, picked up on my routine quickly, made sure labor and delivery checked on my baby, and really advocated for me. She always made me laugh and just made me feel safe when everyone kept saying I had a 50% chance of living.
We didn’t know the gender of the baby at the time, but we knew if we had a girl, we were 100% naming her Anyssa. I believe we survived and were able to get through those difficult weeks because of her, and we want our daughter to know just how special her name is.
