Antonia is a spectacular nurse and caregiver. She is the type of person who makes you want to be a better human just by being in her presence, and it is always a privilege to work side by side with her. She is kind, caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Over the years I have witnessed her making a difference in the lives of so many different patients (and their families), and most recently I witnessed Antonia shine again, this past Friday when caring for a patient that was very uncomfortable due to respiratory distress (and ended up transitioning to comfort care prior to the end of our shift.) She worked relentlessly to ensure the patient's comfort and advocated for the patient's needs. She spent the majority of the shift in the morning hours at the patient's bedside and ensured that the family was involved in the decisions surrounding the patient's care as well. With Antonia's experience, desire to do the right things for her patients, and kind heart, I believe that she is the type of Extraordinary Nurse who fits the mold for a DAISY Nurse.
