First and foremost Tonie is committed to excellence in every task that she performs. From the minute she arrives in the morning she is patient-focused—no job is too small to perform with care—from preparing the bed and ensuring that positioning devices are clean and functioning properly.
Tonie's commitment to excellence and coaching/mentoring skills are both fundamental building blocks to being an incredible patient advocate. It is essential that the patient have an advocate in the OR because the patients are unable to advocate for themselves. Tonie never loses sight of this ultimate priority in everything she does. Some people think she has eyes in the back of her head because she will spot a sterile field contaminant while she is on the phone with her back turned. Nothing harmful escapes her notice--down to the smallest detail such as wrinkles in the sheet underneath the patient which could contribute to skin breakdown.
Tonie treats every patient as if they were her own family and ensures each and every individual participating in the surgery follows OR protocol for safety. Tonie Jacobs is a nurse with compassion and dedication who takes pride in her work and imparts those skills to others unselfishly.
