The world sounded like it was crashing down outside that room’s door, but when you walked in and closed the door, your calm heart heard no one but the little boy in front of you.
Tony has been our nurse the last few times we have found ourselves in difficult situations. Before my daughter was life flighted, he helped keep her calm and provided oxygen in a way that was less scary to my 3-year-old. He was able to get an IV when others couldn’t, and he kept her calm and got her to smile. He empathized with me who, being a nurse, knew the severity of what was happening. I was overheating in a sweatshirt, and he had someone go to the OR and grab a scrub top. I could not have been more thankful to have a compassionate nurse like you, Tony.

Then again, two years later, our 8-year-old cousin was in the ER for dehydration. Needless to say, the ER was hustling and bustling that day. Although it was loud and there were clearly other critical patients that needed to be cared for, Tony took the time to talk to T and make sure he was calm in a very scary environment. Again, IV on the first attempt and T did not even flinch. The world sounded like it was crashing down outside that room’s door, but when you walked in and closed the door, your calm heart heard no one but the little boy in front of you. Amongst the chaos, that little boy got the BEST care.
