The story of why I am nominating Annette Riestenberg for the DAISY Award has to do with her devotion to her work and others, her caring nature, and her overall thoughtful approach to what she is completing. She is always doing little things for the Residents at Perham Living to make their lives easier, better, and more comfortable, whether it be shopping for alternative clothing, purchasing snack items such as NuteIla to help with weight loss, or bringing in fresh-cut flowers for someone who loved to garden as they prepare to leave this earth. She often spends her own time and money making these simple, small gestures a light in their lives.

Annette also often provides the staff with homemade treats, chocolate, or other snacks to brighten their days at work. She also shares her love of plants with the residents, tending to them when she's here. She is willing to teach and explain things to nurses to provide them with growth within the facility and their own careers. She is not afraid to ask for help or ask for someone else's opinion, even with her years of experience. She listens and takes time to reflect or think through an issue or concern before responding or acting on it. She is definitely someone I look up to, and I know other nurses do as well.
