We had a patient who was too weak to stand and unlock the bathroom door, once she had finished. The lady cried for help and stated that she could not stand up, that her legs were too weak to be able to reach the lock on the bathroom door. Annette spoke to the patient and knew we had a special kind of key to unlock the door. Annette could not find anyone who knew where the key had been moved to. She kept searching and going back to the patient, asking if she was okay. The patient began to cry and cry. Annette finally found the key and was able to unlock the door. After which, she helped the lady off the commode to stand with her walker and helped to get the patient dressed again. She helped the lady to be able to walk out of the bathroom with her walker to the wheelchair that was waiting for her. Annette was so very sweet to the lady. She kept telling her that we were getting the key. Once the lady was unlocked and out of the bathroom, she cried even more. The lady stated that she had been coming to see her doctor for 20-plus years and that this had never happened before. Annette went above and beyond to help our patient, who was very scared. Annette had a way of talking to the patient that helped her not feel so embarrassed.
